Psalm 37:4

Delight yourself in the Lord
and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Friday Love

Today is a rainy day...perfect for blogging. And I had the best Friday to blog about. I'm only disappointed in myself for not taking pictures. Because I aspire to be a cool blogger/photographer. Not really...but maybe someday.

My Friday morning was pretty ordinary, but I headed down to Denver in the afternoon for Vivacious Vicky's Vegan Cooking Class...woo! Alex's mom has a few girls over and we cook a vegan dinner and dessert, and they are always delicious (the two times I've taken part)! We made rice, barbeque soy curls (look/taste kinda like chicken), ranch, and cole slaw. Sounds like a crazy combo all in one bowl, but it was so good! We had vegan cheesecake with apple/brown sugar topping and it was also wonderful. [Insert awesome food blog pictures...]

Then Alex, Kritika, and I went back to Matthew and Alex's house, where we found Matthew, Robert, and Drew. The six of us worked tirelessly on a super hard puzzle (Alex informed us that Oprah has the same one...cool!). This included lots of jokes and laughter. It was so simple and so much fun. I am blessed to have such incredible people in my life, and to live close to them!

I was distracted on the drive home by the dangerous downpour of rain and by the awesome CD I made yesterday (titled "Country, Baby!"). But when I got back, I realized it was back to reality and the next visit with the love of my life (Friday) was a week away. Sad. Really sad. But it will come sooner than I think and it will be glorious, I'm sure.

Tuesday Fun

Tonight, Matthew and I saw Hair, the musical. So weird. Such a strange experience, especially with Matthew, of all people. But funny. And I love hanging out with him, so who cares?
Alex turned down my covers and left chocolates on my pillow...I quickly gobbled them up, so this is just a picture of the remnants. My new sister is fun and thoughtful, and I love her!

Even in the midst of a crazy and stressful couple of weeks, I am enjoying life by being with people I love.

So good.

As if I didn't already want to be a stay-at-home mom badly enough, my favorite blog makes me dream about it daily. Here is a great post...but really, they're all great.

My favorite quote from this post:
"I have no idea where I'm going, but we're going somewhere." And I think that pretty much sums up everything. Parenting, living, moving forward, embracing change, making something good of what you've been given.
Obviously, I don't know what parenting is like, but this is a pretty good life motto. Making something good of what you've been given...moving forward, embracing change.

Words to live by

I visit a woman at a nursing home, as part of a social work class. Today, she told me (more than once...though she probably didn't know that) that being grumpy and grumbling about this and that will make you sick. Even though you may have to make your own happiness, life is much better that way. And it's better to be crazy than grumpy. I love that and I probably needed to hear it.

She also pointed to a picture like this one and said, "That's my boyfriend."

88 and Sunny

Studying sociology in style...in the front yard. (But not really studying at all, obviously.) Loving this Colorado weather!

Because I can...

...I'm posting pictures of things I make. Not because I'm exceptional in the kitchen, but just because. Mostly because I wish I was cool enough to have a food blog. And why not document the random things in my life?  Here is a post-run smoothie I made...I thought about what I'd put in it during my run (nothing like looking forward to food to get me through exercise). Peach yogurt, raspberries, bananas, almond milk, and ice. YUM.

It matched my all pink running outfit (you can't see my pink shorts)...the outfit was an accident.
p.s. Olivia took this picture...she thinks I'm weird.
Pretty picture by my mom

I gave my dad some smoothie and after he tasted it, he gave me a fist pound. That's when you know you've done well.
